BMW iX – The ultimate high-tech flagship for electric vehicles

On the BMW website, we’re premiering some of the official details of the company’s latest creation – the iX – the ultimate electric vehicle in terms of technology. And the way it looks, feels and drives, it is definitely the most impressive model from BMW that has ever been built.

Speaking of technologies and exterior design – not to mention the powerful configuration under the hood – Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW’s Senior Design, explains how the model looks and feels. “The car is technically complex, but it feels very clear and straightforward,” he said. The brand new iX “also offers a mobile living space in which people feel comfortable, where the intelligence of the car is only there where it is needed.”

All of these impressive attributes of the technology it embodies leave the company’s BMW 7 Series far behind in terms of high-tech features. Plus, the intimidating looks and extreme power make it a unique futuristic vehicle indeed.

As we can show from the media gallery below, the oversized front grille makes it menacing, while any sensors, cameras or radars it contains complete it in every way. Not to mention the abundance of advanced driver assistance systems that offer the finest driving pleasure.

The massive SUV stands on the company’s new architecture, which was designed for battery-electric models. In addition, there is a new fully electric drive train, consisting of two electric motors and a massive 100 kWh battery. The electric motors develop more than 500 horsepower, while the battery provides a range of 600 miles. As the company also reports, the figures mentioned are based on “the current level of development of the car”. Nevertheless, it goes from 0 to 100 km / h very quickly, and according to BMW, that would be in less than 5.0 seconds, which is also breathtaking.

One of the main improvements to the car is the included hexagonal steering wheel, which means that it “improves lightness and gives the driver a better view of the information display”.

Further reader attention is the electric seat button console on the door panels or the largest glass surface ever designed in a BMW car. It is also interesting that the automaker has retained all the functions of the iNext prototype, including the semi-autonomous system. And even if the iX is still in the “series development phase”, we certainly have a precise idea of how it will eventually come onto the market. Speaking of production: The new iX is being built in the new Dingolfing plant, and production is scheduled to begin next year.

More details and photos with the new BMW iX will be published shortly, check out what we know about the model so far in the media gallery below!
